Bidai

"Papa, please.." , she cried. Her once delicately braided coiffure were haphazardly spreaded on her forehead, her deep dark eyes were sunken deeper and had a protruding gaze fixated on the him. She has planned that day very intricately but this was not in the plan. How could this happen to her? She was dumbfounded, all the memories of childhood passed through her eyes and traumatized her so much that she started shivering and all she could see was immense darkness and then there she felt that pang of pain and emptiness hit her hard. She looked around for support but alas, she could not find any, because her rock had been dethroned from life by the cold hands of death. She fell down at once beside the body, yes, that was all it was, the body, not Shailendra not papa not Mr.Ahuja, just a dead body. And irony was it was her wedding today, and she was worried about her bidai , looked like her father bid her farewell. She did not realise how long she sat there beside him and when and how she landed in the bed, how last rituals took place, she had no recollection of anything. An envelope of fear, loneliness, vulnerablilty had encompassed her heart. She went to her father's room there she found a small box wrapped in gift with a note addressed to her, as she opened it she found a small picture of her father and her holding his hand with a note - Dear Mahira beta, I am never going to let this hand go. You and your husband are willing to be togeter till death do you part but I will be in oasis after I leave from this world and will guide you from the sky. You are star of my eyes and I will be star in the eyes. Always remeber goodbyes are followed by see you soon. Whenever you miss me look out for stars. All the nights sky is never same.
Love papa."

She looked in the window, bright moon was shining with stars. She kept staring at the sky and a tear finally rolled down her cheek until her eyes were red and her clothes were all wet with tears.
Today she was able to say goodbye to her father, knowing she could see the stars soon.
